WebTypically, ribozymes possess nucleotide sequences that are complementary to a target RNA of interest; other sequences adopt a three-dimensional fold (e.g., hammerhead or hairpin) that positions a catalytic machinery close to a fissile bond in the target RNA sequence (exogenous or self).
