This week’s GCSE and A-level teacher-assessed results have seen higher grades at the top end, with a leap in the proportion of As and A*s awarded at A level. In England, nearly 1 in 5 (19.1 per cent) of entries were awarded an A* grade, while more than two in five (44.3 per cent) were awarded an A or A*.
